We are planning to replace the conductor (wire) on our 110 kV double circuit transmission line between Opunake and Stratford. The work is being undertaken over two years.
The conductor on this line is around 30 years old, and the coastal environment in which much of it is located has accelerated its wear and it has now reached the end of its useful life. We expect the new conductor to last between 10 and 20 years longer, due to its superior (all aluminium) construction.
