Asset Management

In addition to the investments detailed on this site providing greater capacity to the National Grid, Transpower must also continue to manage and maintain its existing assets. This is known as asset management planning.

The objective of Transpower’s asset management planning is to maintain service quality and quantity obligations in a cost-effective way by managing existing and new grid assets reliably, safely, efficiently and economically.

An output of that process is a comprehensive Asset Management Plan detailing the strategies applied by Transpower in managing its significant asset base.

Asset Purchasing

Transpower's National Grid division purchases from suppliers that can demonstrate a consistent record of providing goods or services of a specified quality. This is crucial to Transpower's role of maintainer, developer and operator of the high voltage transmission grid assets where a high level of system reliability is demanded.
