Transpower's CommunityCare Fund assists communities affected by Transpower assets and projects, by providing funding for projects that benefit the community as a whole.
The CommunityCare Fund makes grants for community projects along the existing National Grid route, as well as those affected by new Transpower projects.
To date, the CommunityCare Fund has supported 35 projects throughout the seven council regions affected by the North Island Grid Upgrade (NIGUP) project, with $1,035,261 in funding.
Successful projects affected by the NIGUP project have ranged from the technical fit out of the Computer Clubhouse Trust in Otara, to wetlands planting and boardwalks for the ‘Between the Bridges' project in Huntly and the purchase of two waka ama and paddle sets for the community agency in Mangakino.

Funding applications are reviewed twice yearly by the funding panel. The closing dates for applications are 31 January and 31 July. Successful organisations will be notified in March and September.
