Waikato 110 kV Network Investigation

Overview

What we're doing

Transpower is investigating future options for its 110 kV network in the Waikato – specifically between Bombay in the north, Hangatiki in the south and west, and Kinleith in the east.

Why we're doing it

The existing conductor on many of these lines is nearing the end of its economic life and needs to be replaced.  As part of this investigation we need to consider whether there is a need to upgrade capacity or alternatively decommission some lines that may no longer be needed.
