Marsden Substation Upgrade

Overview

What we're doing

Transpower is carrying out a project to upgrade the supply security at Marsden substation, so that a fault at this substation does not cause a loss of supply at Dargaville, Kaitaia, Kaikohe, Kensington and Maungatapere substations. 

We will be installing protection and other equipment on the 220 kV and 110 kV buses (i.e. the common termination points at the substation for each of these voltages).

Why we're doing it

This is a long term solution expected to prevent wider outages following a fault at the Marsden substation.
